A cash bar allows guests to order and pay for their own drinks during the event.


A pre-paid bar tab allows you to nominate a specific amount that you will pay (i.e. $2,000), you can also restrict the beverage selections in any way you like. Once the limit that you have nominated has been met, the bar tab will conclude and guests will need to purchase their own drinks.


A consumption bar tab allows you to run the bar for a certain amount of time (i.e. from 6pm-10pm), and pay for the total bill at the conclusion of your Christmas party in Sydney. You can also restrict the beverage selections in any way you like.

Tentative bookings will be held subject to availability and confirmation. A 25% deposit of the minimum spend is required and acts as a bond and will be reimbursed provided there is no loss and/or damages to the Surry Hills Hotel’s property or that extraordinary cleaning costs will be required.

Payment details

Final payment of catering, entertainment and miscellaneous expenses is to be made 7 business days prior to the function. All menu selections must be specified at this time along with final number of guests. Payments may be made by cash, credit card or EFTPOS. All prices include GST.


In the event of cancellation within 48 hours prior to the function, the 25% deposit will be retained as a cancellation fee.

Hire Period

Standard Function Room Hire is for a Period of 5 Hours. Bar will be closed 30 minutes prior to the end of the function time allocated. The room must be vacated within 15 minutes of the finishing time.


As mentioned above, the function organiser/client will be liable for any damage or unruly behaviour sustained.  Any costs incurred by the Hotel will be passed on to the organiser/client and must be paid for.


The function room is non-smoking. There is an outdoor smoking area adjacent to the room. Please note food cannot be consumed in the smoking area.

Food and Beverage

No food or beverage to be brought onto the Hotel premises at any time.Exception of celebration cakes, lolly tables and dessert tables. Exceptions can be made at the venue’s disclosure.


Any Function above 50 pax requires Security at $50 per hour. The Hotel will advise how many security guards are required prior to the event.

Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)

The Surry Hills Hotel practices and promotes the Responsible service of Alcohol in accordance to legislation. Intoxication, underage drinking, inappropriate behaviour and violent behaviour will not be tolerated and will lead to that person/s being asked to leave the premises.

Hotel Policy

The Hotel takes no responsibility for any items brought into the venue. It is the clients responsibility to ensure the security of their equipment and their guest’s belongings while on premises.
